Alpaca
Alpacas (Vicugna pacos) originate from the Andes Mountains in South America and are known for their soft, warm and exclusive fiber (wool). They live in herds, have a calm nature and are both social and curious animals.
The Norwegian Alpaca Association has prepared a lot of useful and interesting information about alpaca, so take a look.
We are proud members of the Norwegian Alpakka Association – Norway's national association for alpaca owners.

The Alpaca Register (NAR)
The Norwegian Alpaca Association, led by Bjørn Brændshøi, has established the Norwegian Alpaca Register (NAR), where all registered alpacas receive a unique ID number. This ensures good documentation and overview of the breeding work in Norway.

Alpaca today
Today, it is believed that there are approximately three million alpacas in South America, and that alpacas are bred in North America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, China and in many countries in Europe, of which England has the largest population.
The alpaca is mainly kept for its luxurious fiber (wool), but its meat is also used, a fantastic raw material – as the main production is fiber (wool), the meat will be like a bonus product.
